Yoko (Pixel Samples)

Made using a recently acquired app, thanks to my patrons contribution: Read the details here
The first thing I decided to do with it was to test the differences between the canvas sizes. At the moment I’ve tested 4 out of 5 of them:
Extra Small(20×16 pix), Small(40x30pix), Medium(80x60pix), Large (160×120), Extra Large(320×240)
Out of all my characters, I decided to pick Yoko for the test, because I feel that her design retains all the main features even when is being reduced in size, which I think is perfect for pixel art characters

Animal Crossing – Garfield Pixel art

I guess it might come as a surprise, but it was in fact with Animal Crossing Wii that I had my first experience with pixel art. Not to mention this game was my first experience with Animal Crossing as well.

I actually made a lot of designs for my town and clothing, it wasn’t particularly easy to do with the Wiimote but I did my best. New Leaf completely solved that issue for me since I was able to paint directly on the screen. I’m not sure if I was able to save all the designs, but I’ll be sure to share it if I find another interesting one

Character selection

Original characters I’ve shown to the public so far
What started as an Izanna family pixel artwork ended up becoming a complete character roster.

Since I already had the girls, I thought I could add all the characters I’ve made so far (even minor ones). As soon as I had all the sprites, I added the Gameboy Color frame to complete the “retro game” theme.

I pretend to keep updating this list as soon as I create a new character. I think it’ll be a good and unique way to keep track of all the creations I’ve released to the public. I think I missed a couple, but some of them either need a redesign or a new concept entirely.

(I included two versions of Jazmint because, at this point in time, I haven’t decided her final color palette)

Toriel Pixel portrait

Toriel from Undertale.

It’s a pretty simple concept because I’m still testing the tools, but eventually I’ll should be able to work more complex and detailed artworks. It was originally made as a 40×30 pixel art, but it was too small to be appreciated, so I expanded the size using Photoshop.
Interesting fact: I discovered that, by a huge coincidence, today happens to be the anniversary of the of the game. I didn’t really planned it, so I guess it was meant to be.
